El Verde – 12 Million trees by 2012

The province of Camarines Sur with the efforts of Gov. LRay Villafuerte and the provincial council launched the project last February 22, 2011 in  in two cities, 35 municipalities and 1,036 barangays with over 10,000 participants.  The launching ceremony was attended by President Benigno Aquino III and other green earth advocates too.

This project is the first and biggest environmental conservation movement over our country today and with this endeavor, Camarines Sur secured the title in the Guinness Book of World Records for the “Most Trees planted simultaneously”  ” previous held by India, which was able to plant a total of 50,033 trees simultaneously within the span of one hour back in October 10, 2010.  In Febrary 23, that record has officially been beaten by the Philippines through Camarines Sur  “ElVerde 12 Million Trees by 2012” project, 64,096 trees were planted simultaneously within the span of an hour.

I’m so proud because I belong to this province, although i was not able to witness the event personally , some of my RTC co-workers were given the chance to plant trees, i’m still happy because i know this project can help our Mother Nature .  I’m just hoping and wishing that these trees that were planted will actually grow maturely and will be a great help for our next generation.
